Sleepy

The title of this post says it all! I have now gone 3 weeks without a decent nights sleep and if you ask me how I'm doing, I will have to go with SLEEPY, TIRED, maybe even EXHAUSTED! Here's a question for you mom's out there... Do you ever get used to being up at all hours of the night every night? I'm hoping and praying that Cam will be able to sleep through the night (at least 5 consecutive hours) by week 8. We'll see if that happens! I've got a few tricks up my sleeve thanks to my good pal Amber! Luckily Cam is a pretty good sleeper as it is. He really only wakes up in the middle of the night to be fed. He doesn't have colic or acid reflux or anything. He's just a healthy growing boy that likes to eat A LOT!

I love blog updates! He is soooo handsome and looks so sweet, I stare at his picture with so much excitement at holding him! I want to be there so much. I am sorry you are not sleeping well. I hope it gets better for you! Will you tell me if you hate getting advice? I know some people do and I don't want to offend you. I obviously don't have children, but a friend once told me that if you sleep when they are sleeping then you will be able to feel better until he gets his schedule adjusted to normal hours. Hopefully it helps! Good Luck! You sure look beautiful as ever!

You look so good. It's not fair :) You don't really get used to it, but you get used to working in "zombie" mode in the middle of the night. He'll cut out a feeding or two and then before you know it he'll be sleeping longer! Hang in there. Please let me know if you need ANYTHING!

Are you strictly nursing? You can add a bit of rice cereal to a bottle and that'll hold him off a bit longer :)

Oh - and I second the swaddling!

Yes, swaddling and making sure he knows the difference between night and day. Keep it really bright during the day and dark at night. Routines always help as they get older, too. But I think he is just hungry! :) That picture does look like you! Do you think he looks more like you or JOhn? Such cute pics! Jack sleeps 5-5and 1/2 hours...but it is from like 9-2 or 10-3...so I hear ya on being tired!!! :) It gets better! Love you! He is a darling boy!

He is so teeny! I miss those days. Fatten him up and he'll sleep like a champ. Macy is still sleeping (its 10:00)... She has been so good at that.. but have you seen her?? If you thought Tyson was chubby... I am so happy for you. He is soo sweet. I wish I could hold him and love him. I can't believe you are all made up with full hair and make-up done. That didn't happen for me until Tyson was like 3 months old. Good for you!

I agree- you never really get used to the no sleep thing, but you just kind of make it through somehow until they start sleeping longer. He'll figure it out, and it will make all the difference in the world! My kids all slept better swaddled, too. If that helps.

What a handsome boy! And no, you never get used to having no sleep. But eventually, they sleep through the night and you forget that you could ever be that tired. Maybe that's why people have more kids...... Anyway, you look great!

Oh Lindsay, he is beautiful!!!! How fun that you are a mommy now. Congrats girl. And the sleepy hard time does fade... but so does the tiny infant stage... in a minute he will be a big boy... so enjoy those three a.m. feedings when its just you and him. In those wee hours of the morning, looking into those beatiful little eyes its almost like you can see into eternity. Have fun with your little boy!

I absolutely love your baby's little face!! Aw! i just wanna give him a squeeeeze!!! Okay girl, so the bad news is, no, you don't get really get used to waking up at night... The good news is, it gets better. There are a few tricks to help you through this most exhausting time. Yes, one is sleep when your baby sleeps during the day (this is only good for kid number one, once you have more, toss that idea out the window! haha!). Two, learn to sleep sitting up when you are nursing. Get a neck pillow!! I still sleep one round sitting up and nursing at night with Ella. It's become quite comfortable, and the only way I can get enough rest to function getting Laura off to school in the morning and keep up with my toddler!! And three...this is the one that really matters cause it will get your baby sleeping through the night... WAKE YOUR BABY UP EVERY TWO HOURS DURING THE DAY TO NURSE. Babies this little eat about 8 times in a 24 hour period, so if you get all the nursings in during the day, your baby won't have a need to wake up as much at night. it may sound cruel to wake a sleeping baby, but trust me. I followed this advice religiously with my first and she was sleeping eight hours straight at night at six weeks old. and by two months it was 10 hours! good luck! hang in there! and savor that little newborn cause it gooooes fast!!
