I love my...

SJP Bitten Shirt
I bought this shirt for $8 from Steve & Barry's when I was in Seattle for my friend's wedding back in April. I thought it was cute but I thought for sure this thing would fall apart in the wash
by now since it was so cheap but after dozens of washes and wears, It's as good as new!

SJP, can you work on bringing your Bitten line/ a Steve & Barry's store here to Jacksonville??? All SJP's clothes are super fab and under $20!

Saturday morning pancakes

ESPECIALLY when other people/ restaurants make them for me!

Back to work...

Here's my new home away from home! Now that I'm all settled in back at the old job I just recently redecorated my cube. Here it is. It will probably never look this clean again! The only thing that is missing here is a nice big sombrero. AJ Blogmont, you know what I'm talking about! Donde esta mi sombrero?

Happy Birthday Mom!

It's my mom's birthday today and though she probably WILL NOT read this (she NEVER reads my blog!), I decided to go ahead and make a tribute to her anyway.
My mom is a SUPER mom and so much fun to be around! Like me, she LOVES shopping, traveling and is a FASHION QUEEN! She loves her shoes and hand bags! On a deeper level, she is one of the most genuine, compassionate and generous people that I know! She just delights in giving to others and helping people any way she can.
She has always been such a great example to me in many ways. I think most people that know my mom would agree that she lights up a room with her presence. She has a VERY BUBBLY personality and NEVER MEETS A STRANGER! And oh is she a talker! She has a great love for all people and she LOVES her family so much! I hope when John and I have children that I can be HALF the mother she has been to me!
I always joke around with her by calling her a BRUTE because she is REALLY STRONG physically! She gave birth to me with NO EPIDURAL! Enough said!
Not only is she physically strong but she is SO SPIRITUALLY STRONG as well. She's been through a lot in her life, especially recently, but with each trial, she comes through stronger and better. She's my best friend! I love you mom! Happy birthday!

I hope all your birthday wishes come true!

Check out the flip side of our lives!

I just created ANOTHER blog that will be dedicated to our flips that we've done over the past two years. If you'd like to see the before and after pictures of our flips, you can find them all in one place on our new blog "The Flip Side of Life". I've included the link below. I will be sure to post and maintain any new pictures/ details of future flips we do on this blog as well. Enjoy!

Heaven on Earth

John and I went to Orlando today and visited the Orlando Temple where we got married almost three years ago(will be three years on Sept. 17). Time sure does fly! It doesn't feel like it's been three years at all! Our wedding day was probably THE best, most wonderful day of my life! And every time I go back to the Temple, it is such a wonderful experience each time. There's no other place ON EARTH where I feel so close to Heaven. I'm so grateful to have a Temple just two hours away from us. We don't go nearly as often as we should but every time we do, I feel so uplifted and rejuvenated.
I don't know if I've mentioned this in any of my previous posts but I just received a new calling. I'm now in Young Women's as a Laurel Advisor. I'm super excited and have so enjoyed teaching the girls each week. It's quit an adjustment from teaching Relief Society though! So we ran by the church book store to get some things that would help make my lessons a little more interesting each week. I always worry that the girls are COMPLETELY BORED with my lessons. I haven't been in YW since I was a young women! 17! Does anyone have any tips or tricks to share with me? Jill? I know you're YW president. Please share your wealth of knowledge!

Orlando Temple

Here are some pictures we took several weeks ago when we taught a special YW combined lesson on Temple Marriage. We each brought in pictures from our own wedding day to share with the girls. It was great!

Hi my name is Lindsay and I'm addicted to Arby's curly fries...

And Wendy’s frosties... Basically anything that is loaded with calories that I REALLY shouldn't’ be eating! I think I’ve gained back all 3lbs that I lost this summer! I guess it’s my new sedentary lifestyle of sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day! And those curly fries and frosties don’t help either! What is it about these delicious treats that make them so irresistible??? It’s like Arby’s and Wendy’s put an addictive chemical in their food that makes you crave them nightly! They've been talking to the Colonel! (Can you name that movie???)
Why don’t I crave healthy, organic-like food? Why don’t they use this same chemical so I will crave healthy food nightly??? That’s the question of the day. Does anyone have the answer?

Weeknight Date Night

Recently, John discovered that our local AMC Theater offers ½ off ticket prices on the weekdays and they also offer a deal on popcorn and a drink for only $5 (free refills included). This is the deal of a lifetime for John because he will refill his diet coke 5 times if you let him!
We went to the movies the other night and saw Mama Mia, which we both LOVED! I liked it so much more than I thought I would! Go see it if you haven’t already done so! It’s a really fun movie to watch and you can sing along to all your favorite Abba classics! Surprisingly, Meryl Streep and the other actors are pretty good singers! Pierce Brosnan was not the best vocalist of the bunch but I guess he was okay! It was fun. And if you are from the Jacksonville Florida Arlington area, go to AMC 24 for a Weeknight Date Night of your own. John estimated that we saved about $20 by going to the movies on a weekday. He cracks me up! The boy is always looking for a deal! In the almost three years that we’ve been married, he’s never bought one item of clothing for himself UNLESS it was 75 percent off, he only orders from the dollar menu and wherever we go, he always wants to share stuff which ends up being a terrible deal for me because he will eat/ drink 90 percent of it in like 2 seconds! When we went to Universal Studios a few weeks ago, he wanted to share a snow cone! I’ve become wise over the years and decided to refuse that offer. I got my own snow cone.
His thriftiness has rubbed off on me in recent days though (which is a great change from the old days!) For those of you who’ve known me a while, you know I’ve often overlooked price tags and money burns a hole straight through my pocket! I’ve inherited my mom’s expensive taste! But now that I’m an old married woman, I think I’ve changed! I no longer buy clothes that aren’t on sale, I too order only from the dollar menu and I am still driving the same car I’ve had since I was 17 because it get’s great gas mileage. Good old Cindy the Civic (now 9 years old) is still going strong with almost 130 K miles under her belt. I’d like to thank my frugal hubby for helping me be more responsible with my money! And weeknight date nights are the best. You can have two for the price of one weekend date night! And I don’t know if this is a nation wide thing but Applebee’s has two for one appetizers after 10p.m., another one of John’s recent discoveries!

You can't win them all... unless you're Michael Phelps!

I stayed up extra late last night to watch the girls gymnastics- my favorite summer Olympic sport. The U.S. girls won the silver medal and China won the gold. I was a little sad and I know this was quite an upset to the U.S. girls. They were so close to winning the gold but due to several uncharacteristic errors including a pretty nasty fall during Alicia Sacramone's (pictured above hugging her team mate) floor routine, that sadly put them out of the running for the gold.
Though I am sure this is EXTREMELY disappointing for Sacramone and the other girls, I think they did an EXCELLENT job. Silver is still a GREAT HONOR. And let's face it, it's hard competing against a bunch of 14 year old Chinese gymnasts! I mean, who do they think are fooling??? (For those who don't know, you have to be 16 years old to compete in the Olympics for gymnastics). Some of those Chinese girls looked so unbelievably young, I'd be surprised if they were even 14! I think they had a total advantage. But I'm not going to say any more about the subject! Congratulations girls on a job well done!

And Michael Phelps won his 11th (or possibly 12th gold medal. I've been at work all day and haven't caught the latest!) He's won the most Olympic gold medals of any other Olympian EVER! WOW! What an inspiration he is! And the boy can eat! I saw a segment on his daily caloric intake and it was incredible! It's something like 12,000 calories per day when he competes. He eats like a champ and I think he swims a couple laps a day too :) What a champ!

I caught it!

Just as I do every four years, I caught the fever... Olympic Fever! I can't stop watching the stuff! I'm up til like midnight every night and now I have to get up early for work again! Not a good thing! I watched last night as U.S. swimmers Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin and Aaron Piersol all won the gold in their swim relays! Phelps and Piersol broke world records even. Way to make us proud team!

The women's gymnastics is my all time favorite summer Olympic sport and I missed it the other night while it was on. I heard that the U.S. girls buckled a bit under the pressure of the first night of competition. It's probably better I didn't watch then! I get so nervous when I see those girls mess up! It stresses me out!

Anyway, I have officially FALLEN IN LOVE with Herman, Michael Phelps' English Bull Dog! Did you see those clips they showed last night of him with that cute little smashed in face? If not, here's a link to the clip. He's SO CUTE! He makes me want to go out and buy an English Bull Dog of my own! If only John weren't SOOO allergic to dogs! What a little cutie!

Jeff Lewis- We love you!

Does anyone watch Flipping Out? That is one of mine and John's favorite shows! It comes on Bravo on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Last night was the season finale and I just think Jeff Lewis is the BEST! I know he is kinda crazy but I really appreciate all his OCD tendencies! He makes me feel a little more normal! Now when I tell John that he can't mix warm tones with cool tones of paint on our flip houses, I wont feel like such a fanatic! I'm a big fan of consistency throughout a house. If we paint the exterior a cool beachy tone like pale blue with white trim, I feel that we need to continue with cool tones throughout the house (It doesn't have to be the same colors but just in the same cool family)I would never choose reds and browns and other warm, earthy tones (even though I love them) unless it went with the overall feel of the house and that especially includes the exterior color! He makes me feel like a total nut job when I say things like that but I know Jeff Lewis would agree with me!
We are in the process of buying another flip. This one is a 3 story house in Jax Beach that the owners are practically giving away! More details will follow and as always, I will take before and after pictures and post them on the blog for you all to see! Stay tuned!
