Dear blog...

Friday afternoon was a very good ending to a stressful week at work. John and I went to Fernandina Beach after work and walked around all these cute little shops and ate dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Barbara Jeans (It's this great little place that has awesome crab cakes) I'm glad I have a husband that likes to do stuff like that! He'll go shopping with me, he loves to go look at antiques and old houses. He's great! It was so much fun!
There's been a lot of change going on at my job lately. We recently moved office locations to the Corporate Head Quarters of my company. We have combined with this other communications area and now have a new VP that was hired to merge and restructure our areas. It's a very exciting and somewhat un-nerving time! We'll see how everything looks after the reorg.
Anyway, I'm in a book club and we are currently reading Wuthering Heights. I've almost finished reading it and wanted to see if anyone else has read it and how they feel about it. I'm not sure I'm too fond of one of the characters "Heithcliff" in this book. It's funny because I've been listening to the book on CD because I spend a lot of my time in the car and I really have been feeling a lot of anger inside as I'm driving down the road because of this mean mean character! I'm not sure how I feel about the book!
Anyways, if you've read it or are interested in reading it, we're having book club at my house this Thursday at 7:30. Come by and we can talk about it!

Eating at Barbara Jeans always brings a smile to John's face! I think this picture is so funny because the light at the table behind us looks like John's hat!

Countdown to cruise... 31 days

It’s been so nice seeing everyone’s posts of their fun summer vacations. I’m happy to report that in exactly 31 days, we will be setting sail on our cruise to the Bahamas. I can’t wait! As you know, I’ve been SO READY for a vacation lately! John and I have been little busy bees this summer and haven’t taken any “mini- breaks” like we normally do to surrounding areas of Jacksonville like Orlando, Savannah, and Charleston.
The way I see it, life with no vacations is like dinner with no dessert- BORING! I developed this philosophy when I was a mere college student at BYU. My dear friend and college roommate Emily Kirk (now Warnick) gave me such wise counsel when she noticed I was taking school a little too seriously. She said
“ Linds, when you look back at your college years, what are you going to remember? Sitting in the library studying or having fun? Now get in the car and let’s go to Vegas!”

How can you argue with that! So I didn't! Thanks Em!

My last “mini-break” was back in April when I went out to Utah for my cousin Kristin’s graduation from BYU. It was a lot of fun. It brought back fond memories of my college days at BYU and my graduation back in 05. While I was there, I was also able to meet up with some of my college friends, including Emily and her little baby Bailey. It was so great to see everyone. Here are some pictures. Stay tuned for pictures of our next “hoorah” in September. Let’s pray there will be no hurricanes.

Beach Days

This is our friend Jeff. He throws a football like Joe Montana! I taught him that...

New haircut

Lately I've been really bored with my hair! So I decided to make an appointment to get my hair cut this past weekend and before I could even step foot out of the door, John dropped to his knees and BEGGED me not to cut my hair short. He LOVES my hair long and just doesn't like short hair very much. So here is a picture of my new "medium length" hair. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind, however, I'm attempting to make my husband happy while satisfying my need for change. It's been 4 days since I got my hair cut and I'm just itchin to cut it a little shorter. (about another 1-2 inches) The gradual transition may make John a little more comfortable (He doesn't like change very much, can you tell!) What do you think? Should I go a little shorter?

Smokey Joe's Cafe

Last night we went to a dinner theatre with our friends Sarah and Jeff and saw Smokey Joe's Cafe. It was great! The coolest part of the whole night though was that one of the girls in the show went to high school with Sarah and me! It's fun to see what people are doing with their lives after high school!

Changing it up...

I decided to change it up a little and pick a new blog template. What do you think? I found this on a cool website that my friend Krystal posted on her blog. It has a lot of cool (and free) blog templates. Check it out.
