New haircut

And check out these pictures I just took yesterday. Days like these make me LOVE living in Florida! I LOVE meeting John for lunch in the middle of the day and walking on the beach for a few minutes before we have to go back to work. It's good to stop and smell the roses every now and then, especially when there's so much beauty all around you! Like this gorgeous beach. It made me want to go put on my bathing suit and not go back to work!

Women's Pantsuits: A Controversial Issue in Corporate America

Or so was the case in 1971! I found yet another comical article that shows just how much times have changed over the years. This article is GREAT! I especially like the part where it advises women whose “figures exceed a size 16” to not wear pantsuits! HILARIOUS! Double click on the article and read it. You’ll notice that I’ve taken out references to the company name and employees names in this article. I wouldn't want to embarrass this company or the people involved in writing this article today. I’m sure their views on the subject have changed a little over the years. Or so I hope!

1943 Guide to Hiring Women

I belong to a Women's Interactive Network at work and someone in the group came across this ancient magazine article from 1943 entitled "1943 Guide to Hiring Women". She sent it to everyone and I must say that it was a VERY interesting read! Being a woman in the workplace today, it AMAZES me how much times have changed in a mere 65 years! If some joker tried to publish something like this today, can you imagine the response he would get??? He and his publisher would probably be FIRED on the spot! My job involves about 90 percent writing and as someone who knows a little bit about the subject, I'm appalled that gargage like this was credible to people reading publications like "Transportation" magazine. I love the line about "husky girls" being more even tempered. Please! What a joke! I wonder what kind of study this gentleman conducted to determine that! We've come a long way in 65 years ladies! The "male supervisors" of 1943 better be glad that I was born 39 years later because they wouldnt have known what hit em!!! Read it by double clicking on the picture and enlarging. It's very amusing!

Savannah

We just spent a couple days in Savannah this weekend and it was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! The sun was shining, the flowers were in bloom, it felt like springtime in February! Savannah is one of my favorite cities to visit and we live only two hours away so it's a quick trip up there. John's parents were in Savannah this weekend as well for a wedding so we decided to meet up with them. There were actually a lot of weddings going on this weekend at the beautiful town squares and historic mansions. It was fun to see some of them as we walked around. I just ADORE the old historic homes in Savannah. I love how charming and inviting they are. Here are a few pictures that we took...

Can you feel the love?

I love this time of year! Valentine's Day is Thursday and I love any holiday that gives you an excuse to shower each other with gifts, hugs, and kisses. Plus, I'm a huge fan of those little candy gram hearts everyone gives you! I always love reading what they put on them! Some of them are so random like "email me" or "fax me" What the heck is romantic about that???
Anyway... I already picked out my present from John so there will be no surprises there. I've had my eye on this perfume by Vera Wang called Princess for a while and I managed to get John to buy it for me last weekend! Woohoo! We have reservations Thursday night to have dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in St. Augustine called the Columbia. If you've never been there, and are in St. Augustine, I'd DEFINATELY recommend it! This weekend we are going to go up to Savannah for a little mini break. We're going to meet John's parents up there. I'm excited, I love Savannah! And it will be nice to get away for a few days. What's everyone doing for V Day?

Yoga Body Burn

I don't know about you guys but it is WELL PAST the holidays and I am still packing those few extra pounds that are SO ANNOYING! Since graduating from college and getting a corporate job I get ABSOLUTELY NO EXERCISE and it's hard for me to shed the few extra pounds that once would be gone in a week from walking across campus and going to the gym with my roommates.
So I was in Target today and I decided to look through the exercise DVDs and I found Yoga Body Burn by Denise Austin. I have a few other Pilates videos she's done and I really liked them so I decided to try this one. I think the cover of the video sold me! Look at this lady! I read her bio and she's older than my mom and she looks incredible! I want to look like Denise Austin! My abs don't look ANYTHING like that ESPECIALLY when I'm sitting in that position! So I'm inspired! And as much as I DESPISE running, I might start doing that as well. Can you tell I REALLY don't want to be chubby BEFORE I get pregnant??? Because who knows what kind of blimp I will look like in six months! I don't like dieting so exercise is going to have to be the way to do it. Any advice?

More Inspiration from Martha...

I am on a Martha Stewart kick lately! I love looking at her magazine and her website is great too! Everything she does looks like a work of art! The other day I was perusing through her website and saw the most beautifully wrapped gift I've ever seen! I'm inspired to wrap my next present like this...

And these are homemade doggy placemats! I don't have a dog but I thought they were awfully cute!

These are the Knotty and Nice Handbags that I attempted to make (See post below)

Then on the flip side, I saw this on a blog and thought is was hysterical. This will be my excuse on the days my house is a wreck!
